2016 Rising Star
RISING STAR RECIPIENTS HONORED –Morgan Crawford has been chosen as the 2016 recipient of the Rising StarScholarship.  The scholarships, given personally by Jack and Rachael Moyer are presented annually to a staff or family member of the 1886 Crescent Hotel and Spa or the 1905 Basin Park Hotel to further his or her education in their chosen industry. To date the Moyer’s Rising Scholarship Fund has gifted over $8,000.
 
Crawford is studying at North Arkansas College for Nursing.  She shared in her application, “I want to spend many years traveling across America working n places that probably have never heard of Eureka Springs, Arkansas.  I plan to go around spreading the word of this little gem in the Ozarks.”

RISING STAR RECIPIENTS HONORED – Allan Gamill, Morgan Crawford and Katie Peterson have been chosen as the 2015 recipients of the Rising Star Scholarship.  The scholarships, given personally by Jack and Rachael Moyer are presented annually to a staff or family member of the 1886 Crescent Hotel and Spa or the 1905 Basin Park Hotel to further his or her education in their chosen industry.  To date the Rising Scholarship Fund has gifted over $7,250.  Someday soon, we hope to see a funding stream that sends many employees and their kids to school” Stated Jack Moyer

2014 “Rising Star” Recipients Honored

(EUREKA SPRINGS, AR) — Chloe Stillings and Samantha Mueller have been chosen as the 2014 recipients of the Rising Star Scholarship Awards.  The scholarships, given personally by Jack and Rachael Moyer of Eureka Springs, are presented annually to a staff member of the 1886 Crescent Hotel and Spa or the 1905 Basin Park Hotel, or someone in a staff member’s family, to further his or her education in their chosen field.  The scholarship recipients were announced recently at the hotels’ annual family picnic, this year held at Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge.

The Rising Star Scholarships, although funded and awarded personally by the Moyers, is a non-fiscal partner to the hotels’ recognition program known as the monthly Service Star Award recognizing an employee for outstanding work and customer service in the preceding month.  The recipients of the monthly Service Star make up the pool of nominees in the selection of the Employee of the Year at both hotels.

Jack Moyer is vice-president and general manager of the two hotels.  His wife, Rachael, who operates Historica, a private, regional consulting firm, concluded, “Jack and I both have children and we have grown to appreciate just how meaningful a scholarship or financial help can be to a student.  Education unlocks many a door and Jack and I are happy to be able to help provide some keys.”

Stillings and Mueller plan to use the scholarships to help them toward gaining their biology and physical therapy degrees, respectively.  Both will be attending Northwest Arkansas Community College (NWACC) in Bentonville.

 RISING STAR RECIPIENTS HONORED – Katie Peterson Nicholas Bower and Chloe Stillings have been chosen as the 2013 recipients of the Rising Star Scholarship.  The scholarships, given personally by Jack and Rachael Moyer are presented annually to a staff or family member of the 1886 Crescent Hotel and Spa or the 1905 Basin Park Hotel to further his or her education in their chosen industry.

Award, although presented by the Moyer’s is a partner to the Hotel’s recognition program, the Service Star and an important part of how the Employee of the Year is selected each year.  “Rachael and I are adamant about the role education plays and in inspiring the young people who work in the hotels in following their dreams while also pursuing further training.  With that said, every year we make budget at the properties, we give back $2500 to the Rising Scholarship Fund and grant out up to half of what the balance totals; to date

we have gifted over $5,000.  Someday soon, we hope to see a funding stream that sends many employees and their kids to school” Stated Jack Moyer.

Mrs. Moyer is a graduate student at the University of Arkansas herself and operates Historica, a private consulting firm.  Mr. Moyer serves both hotels as Vice President and General Manager.  Peterson  and Stillings plan to use the scholarships to help them gain their Associates Degrees from  North Arkansas College and Northwest Arkansas College respectively, while Bower is enrolled at the University of Arkansas as a physics major.
